High on my to do list was to visit Svenskt Tenn the most amazing interior design shop located on Strandvägen - with a Royal Warrant no less. Ever since I first came across this brand I have been dying to visit its HQ in Stockholm; there is an outpost in Liberty’s in London. It was founded in 1924 by Estrid Ericson (a pewter artist and teacher) who hired the fantastic Josef Frank who was an Austrian architect fleeing the Nazi regime. He is famous for the majority of the boldly patterned fabric in Svenskt Tenn’s collection and many of the furniture designs.
I have a love affair with Josef Frank’s fabric and have several patterns happily resting on my own sofa as cushions. I can also admit to being the recipient of some lovely items from the store for Christmas too (thank you DH!).

Mary, I love Svenskt Tenn too, although the last time I was there the store was being refitted and was in temporary accommodation. The bold fabric designs remind me a lot of African java print, which is why I think I have such an affiliation with them!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you went there and didn't bring me back my 2192 cabinet!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing, I hadn't even heard of it but seems everyone else is in the know. Guess I'll have to put Stockholm on my list now.... have a great weekend Mary.
